Monday, June 3, 2013 - Salem, VA

Today's fortune - Not really a new direction since we've been here before...

Although we haven't seen this before.

The Endless Caverns - they've been mapping them since 1920 and still haven't found the end.

Todd? Why are you turning?

Welcome to the kitchiest diner on Rte. 11!

Echoes of Elvis

Sing it, baby!

Salem, VA. Home to the Salem Red Sox (A for the Red Sox). They were playing the Winston-Salem Dash (A for the White Sox). It was the Sawx v. the Sahx.

Wait...the game was supposed to start at 7:05! Why are they in the 5th inning??
(Oh, they were making up a recent rainout. It's a double-header!)

The field

The stands. Did the team forget to tell everyone there was baseball being played today?  Ticket sales were reported at 1,664, but actual attendance seemed much lower.

Final score for game 1. At this level of baseball, they play 7-inning games if it's a double-header.

Beautiful view!

Stephanie totally dug his hair.

Tiny umpire.

Salem sweeps the twin bill.

Todd liked them better a few years ago when they were called the Salem Avalanche and were affiliated with the Astros.

We still saw 9 innings today (2 1/2 & 6 1/2) and saw the home team celebrate twice.
There was no 7th Inning Stretch but earlier in the game they played the only Todd-and-Stephanie-approved alternate song: Rocky Top
